A strange large warship had appeared in Kure all of a sudden...!
The news had spread all over to the police of the Hiroshima district, every maritime safety agency, organization and the press media within a blink of an eye.

"Where's the ship's registration number...!"

"There's no response at all! There are people onboard the ship!"

"It's a large ship that is more than 200 meters in length! It's a warship! The ship's registration number is unknown! It's not a ship belonging to the armed forces!"

"It appeared from the waters of Etajima! Why didn't we notice the vessel earlier!"

The place immediately fell into a great panic. The Hiroshima district came under critical alert. The large warship that had set out from Kure, that navigational channel was a route that led to Miyajima. The several helicopters dispatched from the maritime security office to chase down the large warship paced to and fro in the sky. Patrol vessels and self-defense ships followed behind closely as though they wanted to surround it.

"The ship's speed at present is... 33 knots!"

"What? How can this monstrous ship have such a speed!"

The sailors on the patrol ship shouted with dissatisfaction in unison.

"...That sort of huge warship, can't be found anywhere in the world, let alone Japan!"

"'Mountaintop Operation'..."

The eldest sailor gazed at the figure of the large warship and muttered.

"It's the Yamato..."

"Huh?"

"That battleship... isn't it the Yamato!"

"Yamato... the warship from that time? How can that be!"

"No, this is the only possibility! Besides the Yamato, there's no other warship this huge!"

"Are you saying the Yamato has returned? Wasn't the Yamato sunk?"

When the shouts of 'Yamato, Yamato' began to circulate among the people's mouths, the warship had already entered Hiroshima bay. Not paying any attention to the disquieting shouts of the people of this era, Kikkawa Motoharu and the others onboard the 'Yamato' only continued to advance towards Miyajima.

Its entire length spanned 263 meters, and it had three basic sets of 9 by 460 millimeter cannons hosted on the 65,000 tonnes of the large warship, carrying a brave disposition as it soared across the sea.
It was the largest battleship in history and had been called the 'Large City of the Seas', 'The Floating Battery of the Seas'. For the people who saw the display of its might, not a single one of them was not overwhelmed. It was simply like an entire mountain was pushing ahead through the sea.

"The Japanese of half a century ago, constructed a truly exceeding object."

This was Motoharu's true feelings at present. The Yamato was a warship that embodied the consolidation of the technologies of ship-building during that time. Although it was used as an instrument of war, it was really the people's intelligence that was the best feature of this embodiment. Even though the Yamato, the pyramids and the Great Wall of China were labeled simultaneously as the three worthless objects of the world, all of these structures were collectively representative of milestones of humanity's capacity during those ages.

As for the Tsukugomani 'Yamato', even if it took shape from the people's thoughts, every minute detail had been perfected, possessing a completely unimaginable spell-constructed tenacity. Now, the numbers of more than 10,000 souls formed the 200 millimeter armored deck, the sides of the boat had 410 millimeters of unprecedentedly thick true armor. This was beyond any doubt an armor that possessed a will of its own. Rumor has it that the real Yamato's 460 millimeter cannons would have reached the limits of its use after 200 rounds of firing, but this 'Yamato', as long as it had incantation shells, it could always go into battle. The incantation shells were of course due to the spells conjured by the sailors of the Mouri as well as by the navy soldiers that had become the vessel's armor.

"My Lord! On the bay of Hiroshima, Sue's and Oda's suigun are advancing this way! Their numbers are approximately 2000!"

"Right, all soldiers prepare for battle! Man the guns! Load the incantation shells, all hands unite in common effort to annihilate the enemy ships!"

"Understood!"

"Kodama," Motoharu called.

"Let those patrol vessels withdraw. Don't let them get involved in the battle."

"But how should we..."

"The quantity of spells released is insufficient to use the method of a fog to conceal the ships' vessels. Insert a wave of thought into the radios of all the ships to warn them. There's no time. Can you do it?"

"Yes! Kodama will do his best."

At this moment, each and every sailor on the patrol ships from Hiroshima bay saw a circumstance that would cause one to not believe one's own eyes.
A new fleet of ships had appeared. The area of Miyajima was saturated with a wonderful mist, a great amount of vessels continued to appear out of it. This time they were not battleships. But large wooden vessels that were used during the Warring States era. Their numbers were approximately 2000. They were aligned close beside one another with hardly any gaps in between and advanced in a straight line.

"What is that!"

"It's a boat... a group of boats!"

"There are armored warriors in those boats! What on earth is that!"

It was the fleet of Sue's suigun. The personnel onboard the patrol ships were startled due to the enormous numbers, and one by one the ships altered course. The mist had seemingly almost disappeared.

Sue's fleet obstructed the path of the 'Yamato', preventing them from advancing any further.
In the middle of the squadron of vessels was an Oatakebune.

"Wh...at..."

Sue Harukata stared dumbfounded at the situation before him. On the other side of the mist a large mountain was approaching. Causing one to even believe it was that mountain with the mythical beasts, that had suddenly become a gigantic warship.

"This... what kind of large ship is this...."

Harukata gulped. His face turned a sickly green. Harukata had always believed that the so-called huge warship would be, at the most, only one or two times the size of the Oatakebune. His entire body froze in terror. Before the might of the 'Yamato', the soldiers of Sue's suigun were completely aghast. That remarkably immense size, caused everyone to inadvertently suffer an intense feeling of defeat.

"A hateful freak of an object, everyone, do not fear! Our numbers are greater than the opponent's! All military personnel gather and charge!"

Ahhhh!!!!

Hiroshima bay resounded with the majestic roar of the soldiers. The suigun that covered the surface of the waters charged towards the 'Yamato' with all speed...!
Welcoming the enemy's assault, the 'Yamato's' own cannons smoked, issuing fire.
The prologue of the naval war had finally commenced!

***

On another side of things, the Atake ship carrying Takaya and the others was passing by the southern channel of Kurahashijima, from the western side of Noumijima they advanced onto Miyajima.

"There's a suigun ahead, lying in ambush."

A sharp-eyed Kotarou said to Takaya.

"To the left behind Atatajima. There are small boats. Their numbers are not great, at most 10 to 12 vessels. What should we do?"

"Repel them."

Standing on the deck appreciating the wind, Takaya uttered.

"This ragged group is useless."

Takaya mumbled in this way, the katana of Bishamon materialized once again in his hand. He stood at the bow of the ship. The Atake, pressing on against the wind that struck against the front, drew nearer to the islands. The company of boats emerged. They were hacchoro and juuchoro boats.

"Hmm, Sue's ships again?"

By the side, Chiaki mumbled. The boats carried numerous skeletal warriors. They had encountered this suigun here many times before in the past en route to their destinations, but with every occasion it was always Sue's vessels that instigated the fight.

Seeing the enemy's army approaching to attack, the warriors gave a cry and faced their way. They continuously attacked with incantations, but they were not in range considering the distance in between the two parties.

Takaya concentrated his strength within the katana of Bishamon. Swirling up in a direction contrary to the wind, it seemed as if the waves had a mind of their own and automatically cleared a path for the ship to proceed.

Ahhh....!!

Takaya stared at the suigun ahead, his eyes glinted with a sharp radiance. He vigorously brandished the katana of Bishamon that emanated dazzling rays of light that bewildered the eye.
The ship accelerated. Breaking through the waves rapidly. Sue's boats approached closer and closer.

"!"

Without a word, Takaya concentrated his spiritual force. He brought down the katana of Bishamon at everything before him in one great horizontal stroke.
Issuing a low roar that sounded like the wind had been sliced, seeming to leave a mark on the sea surface, the shining katana of Bishamon appeared to extend like a laser, sweeping away Sue's boats in one breath. A tremendous wave followed after.

Ahhh!!!

As if a missile was tearing through, the waves swelled into a form of a semi-circle, bursting intensely. At the moment that the radiance swept through, the legion of suigun appeared to have been engulfed, as though they had been sucked in by the blade. There was the sound of a gust of wind, they had disappeared in an instant.
The recoiling waves crashed fiercely against the hull, spattering everywhere. Among the great waves one would not have the impression that the boats had been wrecked as not a single sawdust could be seen. The Atake ship forged through, moving on strongly.

Takaya restored his blade without any emotion.

"Proceed. Stop the ship at Koshibosoura."

"Understood!"

After Takaya gave orders in this way, he threw his line of sight to the direction of Itsukushima that drew closer from the front. By the side, Chiaki had been looking at him all along from the start. It was uncertain if Takaya had not noticed Chiaki's gaze or was deliberately ignoring him, he only faced the islands.

Then, the Atake ship reached the southern side of Koshibosoura. Koshibosoura separated Mt. Misen, with Itsukushima lying in the opposite direction, just within the vicinity of Miyajima.

The three of them made their way to Itsukushima.

"We've arrived. General. So what now? Immediately enter and kill Nobunaga?"

"I will go to Itsukushima shrine."

Takaya said without the slightest bit of hesitation.

"Nagahide, you head to Misen."

"Misen?"

"I have a matter for you to carry through."

Takaya held out a koppa-shin in his hand. This had been used before at Noshima, a koppa-shin that had been emptied.

"The waveform of my soul and message are set inside. You can open it with Bishamonten's mantra."

"What's this for?"

"Present it to the Sanki Gongen at the summit of Misen. It can gather the tengu."

"Tengu?"

Chiaki displayed a surprised expression, Takaya nodded.

"The tengu that stay in Misen: Tarobo and Jirobo. I heard that they're the commander and chieftain of the tengu in the entire country. Just treat this koppa-shin as our introductory letter, since the tengu have a great deal of self-pride, if we can prove that Kuramayama's honorable overlord once helped us before, they will lend us their strength. Any subsequent orders to be issued by you will suffice."

"Kagetora..."

Chiaki could not help but ask.

"You're not really going to duel with Nobunaga, are you? You're not going to perish together with him..."

"I won't do that sort of thing."

Takaya answered decisively.

"I will save Yuzuru. I won't fight him."

"Kagetora."

Then at that moment.
Banging away, the clamor of cannon fire could be heard from afar. The two of them turned in that direction. It came from the north-eastern maritime space.

"The 'Yamato' has come."

Takaya said curtly. The black warship had come to the bay of Hiroshima, this was no doubt the exact same spectacle that Aida had seen. The immense warship sailed through the water. Following behind it were the Mouri's Tsukugomani battleships.

The war had begun. The cannon sounds came from the lineup of Sue's suigun at Hiroshima bay that was firing away. Solidly covering the surface of the water, the black reflection of the ships belonged to the Sue squadron. Several pillars of water burst upwards. Although Sue's faction had overwhelmingly large numbers, its military strength was no match for the 'Yamato'.

With the 'Yamato' as their opponent, how long could they actually hold her off?

"En route from where we came until here we haven't seen half of the Oda's ships, as expected Nobunaga still means not to use his own army."

Kotarou uttered. Oda's suigun must have fled to Aki-nada by now.

"The Sue army is the bait to lure the 'Yamato'. Without a doubt, Nobunaga has decided to use the 'manju' and 'kanju'."

Takaya had already seen through Nobunaga's attempt.

"What have you decided? Kagetora. At this moment we don't have any way of interfering to make them stop the war."

"..."

The completed 'Yamato', as well as Oda Nobunaga...
Takaya quietly gazed at the reflection of the fleet.

"Our task is to sink the 'Yamato', exterminate Nobunaga."

"...Yeah."

"Nagahide, tell Haruie. Don't let Tomo-hime destroy the 'manju' and 'kanju'. Until I give orders, maintain the current situation and don't act."

"What...! What are you planning to do!"

"I want Nobunaga to use that pair of jewels."

"Let Nobunaga use them? It's too risky!"

"Even if it's risky, to weaken the might of the 'Yamato', this is the only way. If we were to depend only on ourselves, our powers have no way of sinking that 'Yamato'"

Takaya turned in Chiaki's direction.

"Let Nobunaga attack the 'Yamato'. Before the 'Yamato' is sunk, let him use the jewels. With Nobunaga's strength, the 'Yamato' can definitely be sunk."

"...You want to make use of Nobunaga?"

Takaya displayed a cold expression.

"That is so."

"..."

Chiaki looked directly into Takaya's eyes, he felt a tinge of fear. This Takaya, capable of assertion and who could even take advantage of Nobunaga, was no longer the former Takaya. He was a man. A cruel man who would resort to all means to achieve his goals.
If he did not behave in this way, he...

"...I understand."

Chiaki replied seriously,

"You okay, Kagetora."

"..."

"Are you... really alright?"

Takaya did not answer, it appeared as if he was wearing a mask, his expression did not change in the slightest. Chiaki observed Takaya's manner for a while, then slowly stepped towards him.

"...!"

Chiaki had suddenly stretched his arm, he embraced Takaya by pressing his head onto his [Chiaki] shoulder. Takaya widened his eyes in astonishment. Chiaki placed his mouth close to his ear.

"Don't you die as well, Kagetora."

"..."

He said with a low voice

"I definitely won't permit you to follow him by committing suicide."

"..."

Chiaki once again patted Takaya, who was still wide-eyed, on his shoulder, turned and ran in the direction of Misen.

Takaya stood rooted to the spot in a lull.

"Saburou-dono."

Kotarou called out worriedly. Takaya did not move, he once again restored his emotionless expression and gazed at the sea. That figure looked like a living doll that still functioned with mechanical precision.

The cannons continued to shake Hiroshima bay.
A fierce battle had begun.

***

Bang!

Large columns of water followed in the wake of the intense waves that foamed upwards.
Firing away, after the sound of each and every boom, a tremendous wave would sprout upwards, causing the small boats to collide against each other and scatter about. The fires that erupted on the small boats that suffered bombardment, moved throughout the entire fleet of small ships that were crowded together, from the surface of the waters a black smoke rose to the sky.

"It's burning down! Abandon ship!"

"It's hot! It's hot!"

Flames enveloped the surface of the sea. The large warship dashed against the disorganized enemy, solemnly advancing forward.

"Wahhhh!! It's coming!"

"Don't retreat, don't retreat! Attack!"

The skeletal warriors that were flung into the water died violently by drowning. Those who ran too slowly burned to death. A rain of arrows were fired with bitterness. But it was a completely useless military endeavor in the face of the 'Yamato's' armor. Half of the Sue army, which comprised 2000 small ships, had already been sunk by the cannon artillery of the 'Yamato', or had been burned down by the large fire in their surroundings.

"Attack, attack! Nnnhh.. Ahhh!!"

Bang!

Another water column was incited, in one breath several dozens of the vessels that were gathered together were overturned. The large waves practically wanted to capsize the ships, tossing about violently.

"We can't attack at all!"

"Ahhhh! Damn you, Mouri!"

Onboard the Oatakebune Sue Harukata clenched his jaw unintentionally. He looked up at the large black warship towering in front of him.

"Unexpectedly depending on the strength of this sort of monstrous ship, too despicable! Despicable, Mouri!"

Bang!
Bang!

"Nnnahh!!!"

The body of the ship, following the booming sounds, rocked considerably from side to side, there were cries from inside the ship. As a result of the unceasing bombardment in front, large amounts of water poured down from the sky onto the heads of Harukata and the others.

"My Lord! We can't engage the 'Yamato'! This ship is already...!"

"Ptui, I won't listen to such disheartening talk. If we cower in this place, we would be derided by Nobunaga to an unthinkable extent!"

The capillaries grew obvious in Harukata's eyes, he shouted in a hoarse voice.

"Realign our ships close together once again! Approach it and attack with incantations! Don't bother with whatever connection the ship has to a Tsukugomani, we only have to band together and cooperatively attack with spells, that will do! We can definitely sink that ship!"

Sue's soldiers desperately released incantations, but it was useless against the 'Yamato's' stubborn and solid armor. The degree of damage they could inflict was the equivalent of throwing pebbles at it. While they carried this out, quite a few of the boats became sacrifices to the 'Yamato's' cannon fire. The fire expanded fiercely.

The second and third divisions circling around the two sides also came under violent machine-gun fire, one after the other, they went up in flames and sank. The heated iron shells were completely ineffective as well. The disparity between their fighting methods was too great. In naval warfare, during the ancient times the suigun used what was known as 'seaweed solution' or 'bamboo rake' on ships carrying the enemy, it was also called baking pan hand grenades, that were thrown onto the enemy ships and detonated. But with a modern warship as the adversary, this method of fighting did not work at all. It only increased the number of lives sacrificed in vain.
The small boats that gathered together, appeared to be saying 'we'll let you hit wherever you like' to the 'Yamato'.

The wails and indignant cries of the soldiers that fell into the sea resounded all around. The rumble of cannon fire. Changed into the disintegrative splintering of the ships. Fragments of wood floated up and down amongst the waves on the surface of the sea. Large waves crashed against the body of the ships. Flames raged. The sky above Hiroshima bay was covered with black smoke.
Terror appeared on Harukata's face.

"T-This... freak of an object...!"

The booms of cannon artillery shook the sea. The main cannon emanated a puff of smoke with a single shot, sending out an astonishingly explosive sound much like the crack of thunder.

"Move forward! Move towards the side of that monstrous ship, execute hand-to-hand combat! Behead all the sailors on deck!"

"It's impossible, my Lord!"

"Even if it's impossible we still have to do it!"

"That is an armor made of spiritual bodies! If we get too close we would be attacked instead!"

"Damn it.... Mouri!"

The vessel of the 'Yamato' pressed nearer in front of Harukata. On the surface of the vessel floated many faces of people. Each and every one of them were the navy soldiers that had become the armor.

"We're going to be hit! Our helm... wahhh!!"

The bow of the 'Yamato' had collided with the side of the Oatakebune. The Atake ship, as if it was being crushed, issued an intense fracturing sound, breaking into half right down the center.

***

Motoharu looked over from the bridge of the 'Yamato' at the enemy's suigun who could not seem to land one hit. At present, the surface of the water was like a sea of fire, black smoke ascended gracefully.

"Foolish person, Sue Harukata. No matter how you struggle, that small weak suigun can never defeat the 'Yamato'."

Still, Motoharu recalled the former battle at Itsukushima with a solemn expression, as he watched the Sue suigun that appeared to be escaping hurriedly.

The conflict at Itsukushima during the first year of the Kouji era. This was the battle for supremacy over the Middle Kingdom between Sue Harukata and Motoharu's father, Mouri Motonari, who conducted a large decisive battle. Sue's army of 20,000 fought against Mouri's 4,000. Despite being disadvantaged by the crushing disparity in numbers, Motonari, with a beautifully devised military offense, had destroyed the enemy.

Motoharu, commanding the military at Aki Shinjo, took the initiative to pursue and attack, invading and causing Sue's navy to fall apart. But Sue's ferocious general, the well-known Hironaka Mikawa, who commanded 500 troops at Takiyuki alley, hindered Motoharu. Just at the hour that these two armies were engaged in mutual combat, Hatano, commanding 300 of Sue's troops, attacked from the side. As a result, Motoharu had been caught in a deadlock.

-- Motoharu-sama!

The one who had saved Motoharu was the father of Tomo-hime and Isari-hime - Kumagai Nobunao. Nobunao, with a face covered with seawater and dust, commanded his men to charge forward regardless of everything; that uncompromising expression of his, Motoharu would never forget for as long as he lived. They had exerted themselves for Motoharu fighting in spite of their bodies, for this reason Hironaka and the rest of Sue's troops had no choice but to retreat once again.

It appeared that Nobunao had passed serenely and achieved Buddhahood, he was no longer around.

Nobunao...

Once he closed his eyes, that scene still appeared vividly in his mind. Motoharu wore a profound expression of grief and looked towards the stage of the fierce battle. Itsukushima's green earth stretched horizontally towards the direction of the sea.

Now, Oda Nobunaga was right there.

I definitely won't let you have Aki.

Motoharu clenched his fist tightly.

Our sea of the Mouri...!

The large warship continuously destroyed the enemy ships, advancing onto Oda's stronghold without fear.
Under the roar of Motoharu's command, all of the hands concentrated their spells. They loaded the artillery with spiritual cannon balls.

"Fire!"

An attack that sounded just like the rumble of thunder, the large body of the 'Yamato' teetered three times in a row.
The meaning 'to scatter away everything', very much referred to this circumstance. The 'Yamato' was too overwhelmingly formidable...!

***

"Hmph. Seems like it's almost here."

Oda Nobunaga could hear the sound of the cannons, reverberating throughout the entire island, from the hall of worship of Itsukushima shrine. Sue's suigun, in order to engage the 'Yamato', had launched an attack.

A scout came running in from the corridor.

"Reporting back, My Lord!"

"Hmm."

"Sue's suigun has sustained the 'Yamato's' cannon fire. They've been completely overwhelmed! It's only a matter of time before the entire navy is wiped out!"

"My Lord...!"

"Be quiet. I knew this would happen from the start. That standard of suigun will surely not win against an opponent like that sort of Tsukumogami. To defeat them, we would need the military strength of at least 200,000 troops."

"Harukata-sama requests that subsidiary troops be sent out! Please give instructions, My Lord!"

"Hmph, rescue troops, there are none to dispatch even if I wanted to."

Nobunaga uttered, he looked at the 'kanju' and 'manju' by his foot and laughed.

"For an adversary such as the Mouri, it'll be enough to just use these two gems to deal with them."

"My Lord!"

Ranmaru had returned, he reported to Nobunaga.

"We've received information from the Misen lookout tower."

"What?"

"There's a suspicious Atake ship at Koshibosoura."

"What? A ship from where?"

"That is unclear. It seems like Atatajima's Sue suigun was destroyed in one breath. Almost as if they were eradicated by the power of exorcism."

"So it's those Uesugi bastards?"

Nobunaga felt amused and smiled, he stood up all of a sudden.

"The actors have finally arrived in full. Ranmaru. Monitor the information gathered from Misen well."

"My Lord, do you want to set off?"

"Yeah! Prepare the ship! I want our proud Oatakabune! Bring the 'manju' and 'kanju'. It's about time for us to go out into the field!"

"Understood!"

"Sink the 'Yamato'! Are you ready, everyone!"

There was a strong outburst of 'Ah Ah!' sounds. Nobunaga treaded out crudely. He left the hall of worship, just when he was about to step into the corridor,

"Nnnh...!"

Nobunaga suddenly felt dizzy, he crouched down pressing against his forehead. The retainers were alarmed.

"My Lord, what's wrong!"

"...A call. Nothing, just a little dizzy. No need to..."

While saying this, a sharp pain suddenly twisted into his temples, forcing Nobunaga to hunker down. An intense headache invaded Nobunaga.

"Nnnh... ah... ah...."

"My Lord! ... My Lord, are you alright!"

His aides approached him in a scrambled manner, Nobunaga grabbed the railing tightly as he crouched. He was in pain for a while, then suddenly opened his eyes.

"...Taka...ya...?"

Mumbling in this way was Yuzuru. Yuzuru's consciousness had arrested Nobunaga's and appeared.

"Takaya!... It's Takaya right!"

Yuzuru surveyed the surrounding situation. He had heard the sound of Takaya's call. Yuzuru had regained his former appearance.

"My Lord!"

"Where are you? Takaya! Answer me, Takaya! Hey, Taka... nnnh ah!"

The staggering headache struck once again, Yuzuru clasped his head and crouched. A fierce conflict over the authority to dominate started inside Yuzuru's physical body.

"Oh..oh ahhhh!"

"My Lord! H-Hurry, get help over here! My Lord!"

"Damn... it..., Narita Yuzuru!"

Nobunaga grunted, apparently he had finally suppressed Yuzuru's consciousness. He repressed the severe headache and lifted his head.

"Putting up a resistance against me all of a sudden, this sort of arrogant doing. It's good enough to just obediently give in to my will..."

"My Lord!"

Ranmaru rushed to him flustered.

"Are you alright! Do you feel unwell anywhere...!"

"I'm fine..., Ranmaru. I can walk."

Nobunaga allowed Ranmaru to support him as he stood up.

"Narita Yuzuru responded to Kagetora's call and emerged... I was too careless. But I won't let you have the opportunity of freedom again."

Nobunaga stared at the sea beyond the Ootorii.

"The Uesugi have begun to move. All personnel to take up arms, Ranmaru. If those bastards have come here for a surprise attack, it's okay, kill all of them."

There was a large indignant roar together with the explosive blasts of artillery.

"...I can finally test your strength. Narita Yuzuru."

***

The three of them including Ayako, who had been moving towards the summit of Mt. Misen, had finally reached Misen's main temple building.

"There are still many soldiers here."

This appeared to be the Oda's Nunoshita stronghold. From the peak of Mt. Misen, the entire periphery of the territorial waters of Itsukushima could be seen. The Oda, using this place as a watchtower, surveyed the movements of the suigun.

"Apparently the 'Yamato' has gone into battle."

Isari-hime, inclining her head to listen to the echoes of the cannon fire about the area, opened her mouth and said.

"Now Hiroshima bay has become a battlefield."

"Tomo-hime, is our destination still somewhere ahead?"

"We have to go the watchtower at the summit."

Tomo-hime said with a tone of urgency.

"There's a rock there called Kanman-iwa. We have to go there."

"Kanman-iwa?"

Ayako wrinkled her brow.

"There is a what? What is the Kanman-iwa? What are we supposed to do there?"

"You'll know when we get there. First we need to head to 'The Temple of the Unextinguishable Spiritual Fire'. Anyway we probably have to defeat Oda's soldiers to get close. Kakizaki-dono."

"I understand. Isari-hime."

"Make a sound from the east then attack from the west, right. I know, you both go on ahead."

Ayako and Tomo-hime ran towards the side of the woods. Not long after the sound of a commotion could be heard coming from behind. Isari-hime had begun to stir up a tumult.

"Hahh!"

Plasma was issued from Isari's palms, transforming into a net-shaped conjuration. The enemy soldiers that came attacking were encased in the net and suffered violent electrical shocks. Just as the men dropped down unceasingly, she was continuously assailed by fresh waves of enemy soldiers. Defending herself against the enemy's incantations, Isari protected her body by setting up a Goshinha.

"Nnnh!"

Several bunches of spells penetrated her barrier and brushed against her clothes. Isari-hime endured the pain, and further focused her body's strength.

"Get out of the way-"

With howls of 'Wah', the sound of an uproar came from the front. It appeared that Ayako had just emerged from Sanki temple. The soldiers who had their attention diverted were caught unawares and turned their heads. At that moment, Tomo-hime fired the 'arrow of the Goddess of Mercy'. Bursting into roars of grief, the soldiers that were hit by the arrow fell to the ground. Ayako knotted her fingers together in a mudra.

"Bai!"

The twenty or so Yachou that were attacking together were externally bound.

"Noumakusamanda Bodanan Baishiramandaya Sowaka! Namotobatsu Bishamonten!"

"On Mani Pamei Fun!"

Tomo-hime drew the bow, Ayako sturdily concentrated her 'power'.

"To subjugate the demons! Grant me thy power!"

"Namo Kanzeon Bosatsu!"

The two spheres of light that swelled exploded.

"Exorcise!"

Issuing a piercing sound, white rays of light enveloped the entire region. Amongst the radiance, a few arrows shot out. There were outcries of grief. The souls that possessed the bodies pierced with the arrows were expelled, and disappeared into the brilliant rays of light of the exorcism.

Oda's army near the Sanki temple had been eliminated in one sweep.

"You guys! You should have a little more consideration for others!"

Isari called out with an angry voice as she ran over. She had almost been drawn into the exorcism.

"Ah, sorry sorry, Isari-hime. But I was thinking that since it was you it should be fine."

"Did you think that an apology would suffice! I will vanish if I am exorcised!"

"That's why I'm apologizing... Huh. Tomo-hime?"

Tomo-hime had entered the ancient hall on the left hand side of Sanki Temple. This hall was called 'The Temple of the Unextinguishable Spiritual Fire'. Stepping inside, the walls all the way up to the ceilings had all been dyed a dark coal-black. Situated in the middle was a furnace. Also pigmented all over with a coal-black coloration, it was large teapot, a fire burned within.

"This is called the 'unextinguishable fire'."

Tomo-hime uttered.

"It is said that this is Kobou Daishi's goma burning fire, for over 1000 years it has burned continuously."

"Kobou Daishi's burning..."

"I need this spiritual fire. Take some by igniting a torch."

Immediately after Tomo-hime had finished speaking, she suddenly felt a Yachou approach from behind.

"What!"

The skeletal warrior seized Tomo-hime's bow and arrow from her back. Ayako moved into action, but it was too late...!

"!"

They would be fired at! Thinking in this way they shut their eyes however, just as that moment, the jeering warrior was suddenly silenced. The three of them turned their heads in shock. A man was standing there against a strongly luminous background. He could not be clearly seen.

"Hey hey. Already told you not to let your guard down."

"This voice...! Nagahide!"

Chiaki Shuuhei was standing there. Takaya had wanted him to go to Misen, he had just arrived. Chiaki did not have an exhausted appearance at all, he leaned against the pillar and said,

"Hi. How have you been? Isari-hime. You're still so pretty."

"Uesugi...?"

"What the heck are you doing here? Nagahide!"

"Kagetora ordered me to come. I just saved you. You could at least thank me."

After saying this, Chiaki took notice of Tomo-hime.

"You are Tonomura Narumi... Is that it, so you're that 'Youkihi'."

"Tomo-hime. This is my comrade Yasuda Nagahide."

Tomo-hime lightly nodded her head in acknowledgement in a shy, fearful manner. Ayako questioned Chiaki who nodded in return.

"When did you come to Itsukushima?"

"Only recently. I came with Kagetora on the Atake ship. But taking the aerial cable car is still much faster, as expected."

Apparently, Chiaki had crushed the Oda's men in the control room, thereby allowing the cable car to become functional. But this was really a faster method than climbing up from the foot of the mountain.

"Have Kagetora and Naoe come? Are both of them alright?"

"..."

Chiaki was quiet all of a sudden. But he immediately shifted his gaze deliberately, he replied with a hurried and brief intonation.

"Kagetora is heading towards Itsukushima shrine. Naoe-"

Silence once again.

"Naoe... remained at Hagi."

"Hagi? Then he is alright!"

"..."

Chiaki knitted his brow in grief, but restored his usual expression instantly so that Ayako would not realize it, and nodded.

"I came here because of a certain matter. You people go on ahead. But before Kagetora issues an order, don't do anything to the 'manju' and 'kanju'."

"Why!"

"To let Nobunaga sink the 'Yamato'."

"That won't do! Uesugi!"

Tomo-hime shouted.

"You can't let a person like Nobunaga make use of those important jewels!"

"If we don't do this, we can't sink that monstrous ship!"

Reprimanded by Chiaki indignantly in this way, Tomo-hime was startled.

"Otherwise what other way is there? You're surely not thinking of disallowing the sinking of the 'Yamato', are you?"

"N...Not at all...!"

"As expected, you're still of the Mouri. Furthermore I heard that you're Kikkawa Motoharu's wife? You can't sink the ship that carries your husband? What's this talk of being Youkihi's emissary, at the end of the day your husband's life is still more important right?"

"..."

Tomo-hime was silenced.

"Kagetora has decided to expel the Oda after the 'Yamato' is sunk. If the 'Yamato' was just a piece of artwork that floated on the sea then there wouldn't be a problem, but that is a ship that can't be used in war again. If it goes into battle, we have no choice but to sink it and let it sleep at the bottom of the sea."

"Yasuda-dono, I..."

"Anyway just go. I have something I wish to convey to the tengu-sama here. Continue to head towards the summit."

"...Understood. Let's go, Tomo-hime. Isari-hime."

Ayako gently pushed Tomo-hime's back, all of them ran towards the summit. Chiaki took out from his bosom Kagetora's 'letter of introduction' koppa-shin, he opened the door of the Sanki temple.

"So, tengu boss, please manifest yourself with all speed."

***

"What is that! That warship!"

"They're fighting. The boats and many warships are fighting!"

"The warships are attacking!"

The platform was jam-packed with a crowd of people that had gathered together. The streets of Miyajima had also fallen into a massive hysteria. Some were carrying family belongings to higher ground, some were putting their ships ashore, some were watching the unstable disturbance on the sea, while others were randomly running all over the place unable to comprehend the situation.

"Amazing..."

The 'Yamato', breaking apart Sue's suigun, and its warships finally entered the Oono Seto.

"They're not a worthy opponent at all."

Even though Sue's army of boats swarmed in, they could only make small abrasions on the armor of the 'Yamato'.

"Was it a similar scenario, when the Mouri saw Kuki's iron-armored ships for the very first time at the mouth of Kizugawa?"

The difference in scale was too disparate.
The large black shadow of the ship pressed closer. Channeling a feeling of an overpowering threat to the onlookers.

Bang!
Bang!

Sue's boats were turned to dust in an instant. There was intense foaming from the water columns that rose, the boats carrying the skeletal warriors were overturned, the wreckage floating on the surface of the water caught fire, the atmosphere above the sea was saturated with smoke.

"Sue's army, completely destroyed..."

Takaya squinted painfully.

"Kotarou, utilize the police to tell the residents to seek refuge on higher ground. The 'kanju' and 'manju' may cause a tsunami. Nobunaga will be using the 'manju' and 'kanju' very soon. Don't let any ship set out to sea. Give out instructions to the navigating ships to urgently return to port. There's no time. Go immediately."

"Understood!"

The 'Yamato' hastened on to Itsukushima shrine from the other side of the black smoke. The black warships entered Oono Seto.

On the opposite bank of the body of water, the crowd was also caught in a frenzy. Due to the abnormal state of affairs, Miyajimaguchi ferry port had stopped even the smaller boats from sailing to Miyajima.

"Why don't you have any boats!"

Shimozura Rairyu snarled in this way at the staff of the ferry company.

"I can't reach Miyajima in this way! There's no time, put out some boats!"

"That's not possible! There has been an unusual situation on the sea...!"

"Of course it's unusual, because the battle has already begun! Hurry up! If you don't put out a boat, you'll lose your life!"

"Wah.... wahhhh!!"

"Rairyu-dono!"

Shichiri called out from the pier.

"Please board the ship! This ship will sail!"

"Oh! Did you seize that!"

"Hey, what are all of you doing! Stop!"

"What a bother!"

Rairyu shoved away the staff members, he ran onboard the ship. In the flurry, the members of staff prevented the crowd of people in priestly garb from wanting to board the ship. Finally even the police came, there was utter chaos at the scene.

"You stupid idiots, get out of my way!"

Rairyu yelled, retreating from the group of people trying to stop them. They were wrestling with one another on the pier. At that moment, a subordinate who had been assigned to the watchtower discovered an unexpected occurrence at Itsukushima shrine and shouted to Rairyu.

"The ship...! The ship has come, from Itsukushima shrine!"

"What!"

"That's an Oatakebune! Oda's flag...! That is the General's warship of the Oda!"

***

"Set sail!"

Nobunaga roared his command, the Oatakebune departed from Itsukushima shrine. From the highest watchtower of the iron-clad ship, Nobunaga gazed ahead, welcoming the sea breeze as he stood.
His hands grasped the 'manju' and 'kanju'.

"Reporting back, my Lord!"

"Yeah!"

"The entire Sue suigun has been destroyed! Harukata-dono has been taken captive by the Mouri!"

"What the Mouri!"

"Yes! They have advised a surrender! If you surrender to the Mouri, they will immediately release Harukata-dono, and stop bombardment of Itsukushima!"

"Hmph. Who's going to surrender to them?"

Nobunaga smiled haughtily.

"As long as I have that shrine behind my back, Motoharu won't act. I heard that in a past battle, he specifically ordered his soldiers to extinguish a fire that was about to burn down Itsukushima shrine, didn't he? A coward who reveres the Buddha now urging me to surrender all of a sudden, don't make me laugh until I double on my belly!"

"What should we do about Harukata-dono!"

"Who cares about him. Let him become fish bait together with Motoharu."

Nobunaga faced the large black warship that approached from the front, even exposing a smiling expression in this mutual confrontation.
The sea wind ruffled his hair.
Nobunaga held out his hands, that were holding the 'kanju' and 'manju', to the front.
He concentrated his vigor.

The spiritual influence from his physical body danced in a wave-like motion, then its might increased and enveloped the region. The waves surrounding the Oatakebune began to surge in a chaotic manner. It was as if a helicopter had landed on the surface of the sea, giving out a raspy noise, huge waves rippled in a concentric circle.

Yuzuru's physical body was enclosed in a golden spiritual energy.
The 'manju' and 'kanju' in his hands seemed to acquire power and became electrified. The original seven rainbow colors on the surface had turned golden.
Immense waves rolled turbulently. The heart of its power concentrated in Nobunaga's body.
The brilliant rays of light of the 'manju' and 'kanju' transformed into a golden blaze, raging and flaming in the hands of the Demon King. Both of Nobunaga's eyes suddenly opened.

"Hahhhhh--!!"

*sound of gurgling water*

With an astonishing sound, the sea level swelled to a height of ten meters and charged towards the 'Yamato' with a fierce intensity.

"What!"

On the bridge of the 'Yamato', Motoharu and the others let out an 'Ah' as they stared.
The huge wall of water several tens of meters high transformed into a sharp saw that crashed downwards from the front.

"Evade it!"

It was too late to be shouting orders. An attack that startled the person descended on the 'Yamato'.

Rumble rumble!

"Nyahhh!!"

Causing them to even believe that the vessel had split open under the assault, all of the sailors tumbled and collided against the walls of the ship. Lifting up their heads in shock, they saw that the ship's bow had been gouged, a black sort of smoke rose upwards. The spiritual foundation of the vessel's armor fell into the sea one after another.

"W-What happened! What exactly happened!"

Motoharu howled. Because his line of sight was blocked by the smoke, he could not see the front. The desire to kill appeared in Nobunaga's merciless eyes, he laughed. Both of his hands were alight with a golden blaze.

"Satisfying... too satisfying! Hahahaha!"

The surface of the sea caved in. Great turbulent waves surged up violently. Several columns of the savage waters jetted to the edge of the skies. Just like a towering sea dragon sweeping over Oono Seto.

"Again! Again!...charge, I am coming! Mouri!"

The people, crying out in distress, fled from the harbor. Dark clouds cloaked the sky, a tempest was starting to stir up the sea. Tall waves struck against the side of the disembarkation docks, a gale blasted about the area. Kotarou, standing amongst the crowd that was fleeing in all directions, shouted.

"Head to higher ground! Take refuge immediately!"

The police siren wailed all around. The sea water madly danced in the tides.

"A cyclone, a cyclone is approaching!"

"A tsunami is coming! Don't set out to sea!"

That was the power of the 'manju' and 'kanju'...!

Takaya, witnessing Nobunaga's first wave of attack from the streets, stood up in consternation.
This was too startling.
On the waters of Hijirizaki, he saw the massive amount of souls peeling off the surface of the 'Yamato' and falling into the sea. The cries of lament from the souls who fell into the water could be heard. If this continued, they would just sink to the sea bed in this fragmentary spiritual form. In this circumstance, it would be difficult to save them.

Takaya ran out. He could not let the 'Yamato' and those souls just sink to the bottom of the sea. He must first deliver them to the other world.

The sea surged up frantically...
Huge waves started to swirl up against the current.
The police cried out. The people, fearing the tsunami, struggled to be the first to escape. Contrary to the crowd, Takaya ran towards Hijirizaki.

Following the booming sounds, puffs of smoke continued to stream out from the main armament with each cannonade. On the sea, the Oda's iron-armored ships were bombarded one after the other by the cannon fire of the 'Yamato' until they were wrecked.

It could be said from the confrontation between the two armies that a great battle had already broken out over the waters of Itsukushima. The Oda's forces, wanting to stop the 'Yamato' from entering Kure, had deployed its suigun to the water channels at Kure to meet the enemy head-on, but be it the channel blockaders or the suigun of the territorial waters of Suo-Oshima, all of them were utterly destroyed in a single wave of attack. The Oda's battle formation at the very last military outpost in the waters of Etajima united with Sue's suigun to desperately launch an assault however it could not stop the 'Yamato' at all. Even the armor of the Oda's first rate iron ships was no match for the 'Yamato's' cannon artillery.

"From the looks of it, the Oda's Oatakabune is unexpectedly small."

Kikkawa Motoharu stood for a long time on the bridge looking over the sea, he mumbled in this way.

"The 'Yamato' is truly a great battleship. There is no other Tsukumogami that can compare with it. The people's 'thoughts' are the reason why this ship is so formidable."

"This is the 'Yamato' that remained in the territorial waters of Kagoshima and sank in that place, the ship with all the residual yearning of the people."

The chief of the suigun and also the captain of the 'Yamato', Kodama Narikata, answered Motoharu's words in this way.

"This is the thickest, most concentrated and best Tsukumogami warship created by the Mouri with spells. This ship has the people's aspirations. Even if one were to mention that this is just a vision of the real Yamato that sank to the seabed seen in dreams, it probably isn't an exaggeration to say that this illusion has been nurtured into something real."

"An illusion of the sunken ship's vision..."

Motoharu quietly stroked the compass.

"We are riding the Yamato where a utopia can be seen."

The main armament continued to fire.
Inducing the waters to splash up in columns, the Oatakabune sank. The opponent desperately attacked, but was no match for the 'Yamato'.

"It won't be long before the all of the enemy's ships are sunk!"

Kure appeared before them.

"Good! Proceed ahead with all speed! Enter Kure!"

The 'Yamato' forged ahead, strongly advancing forward. The length of time that had passed since that do-or-die conflict was 50 years. After lapsing half a century of a person's lifetime, after the endless sailing, the 'Yamato' had now reached the place where it was born: Kure.
Motoharu and the others heard the welcoming cries of the souls of more than 10,000 naval soldiers assembled there. It was grand, the sound of a large, heroic reception from their hearts.

"Excellent."

Motoharu uttered.

"My heart feels satisfied. That we would unexpectedly receive this welcome from the people."

"Reporting back, my Lord!"

Breaking through towards Motoharu in an inebriated manner, the messenger rushed towards him, shouting in an urgent tone of voice.

"Noshima! Noshima has fallen!"

"What!"

"Kobayakawa Takakage-sama has died in battle! Murakami Takeyoshi has committed mutiny! The funagata of the 'Yamato' has also been destroyed!"

"!"

***

Matsuyama Satsuki, with the 'manju' in hand, returned to Itsukushima shrine to Oda Nobunaga's side.
Nobunaga met with Satsuki in the hall of worship.

"Well done, Matsuyama Satsuki."

Nobunaga laughed with the external appearance of Yuzuru.

"You're much more useful than those fumbling soldiers of mine. You shall be bestowed with a gift."

Satsuki, still in a state of hypnotism, was seated before Nobunaga. The two jewels of the 'manju' and 'kanju' were placed on the altar. Behind them, Nobunaga leaned on the armrest, his hand supported his face, with a slanted body he spoke with a casual attitude.

"Hmm. I don't want to let you go. Why don't you stay by my side for always."

"My Lord. What are you saying?"

"Don't let her do all this spy work anymore. Let her wear some beautiful clothes and accompany me by my side. Satsuki, why don't you become a princess of the Oda."

Nobunaga laughed with vile intentions.

"From now on, you'll be our hostage."

Satsuki came to her senses with an 'Ah'. It appeared that Nobunaga undid the hypnotism.

"W-What! Why am I here! Ah! You, Narita!"

Seeing Satsuki's startled expression, Nobunaga laughed out loud.

"Ah....Hahaha! Alright alright. Take Satsuki away!"

"Y-You, what are you saying! What happened to Narumi and the others! How come I'm the only one here! Hey, Narita!"

The retainers held Satsuki under her arms, and dragged her out of the hall of worship. Nobunaga stopped laughing, he called 'Ran'.

"Bring the 'manju' and 'kanju'."

"Yes!"

Ranmaru fetched the two jewels from the altar and respectfully held out his hand to offer them to Nobunaga. Nobunaga roughly grabbed them with both hands.
The jewels responded to Nobunaga's power, its radiance began to subtly increase. Nobunaga laughed haughtily, his eyes twinkled.

"Look, these jewels are happy to be this way. They're saying that neither 'Youkihi' nor the Amako deserve to have them. The gems want to be in the hands of one who is worthy of its possession before they can appear to be truly valuable. This is the destiny of this pair of pearls. I am their master."

The eyes of the overlord had begun to search out the sea for his prey.

"Hurry up, 'Yamato'. You are the first honorable and glorious object of sacrifice. Allow me to savor the fearsome might of the 'manju' and 'kanju'."

There was an exceedingly unmerciful look in Nobunaga's eyes, causing the face of Sue Harukata, who was sitting beside him, to stiffen.

T-This person...

"Harukata-dono."

That pair of merciless eyes looked his way, causing Harukata to freeze.

"Yes!..."

"Can you instruct the Sue suigun to sail out to sea, and bring the 'Yamato' here?"

"Bring... here?"

"That's what I mean. Catch up with the 'Yamato', get them to Itsukushima at once."

"But the 'Yamato' is currently with the suigun at Kure..."

The smile disappeared from the corners of Nobunaga's mouth. That overly menacing sensation caused Harukata to swallow his words.

"Do you have a different opinion? Harukata."

"No... I... do not dare."

"Then what is the use of bringing this suigun if it just abuts the islands but never sail out to open sea? If you don't go, then I'll greet them myself."

Nobunaga said, and really stood up, Harukata was nervous.

"H-Harukata understands! I'll immediately send out troops!"

Nobunaga took one small glance over his shoulder, and slowly sat down on his chair. He stretched his legs out, not sitting upright, laughing as he spoke.

"...Good for you for understanding."

At this moment a messenger ran in.

"Reporting back, my Lord! The allied forces at Kure have been sunk by the 'Yamato', all of them have been sunk!"

"What!"

"All sunk! That enormous suigun unexpectedly...!"

The retainers stood up shouting, but Nobunaga only lifted his eyes slightly, his face still supported by his hand.

"N-Nobunaga-kou!"

"Be quiet. It's no big deal."

"No big deal... how that you say that!"

"Before you all get noisy, why don't you first go make preparations for the assault on the 'Yamato'? Harukata."

"...!"

Harukata desperately endured his resentment, then with his face cast aside, turned and left the hall of worship feeling hateful. Ranmaru approached Nobunaga.

"Apparently Noshima's Suigun Castle has fallen."

"Fallen already?"

"Yes. There was word of Yamanaka Shikanosuke. He fought against Kobayakawa Takakage, and destroyed Noshima's Mouri suigun. But the Murakami suigun defected from Takakage."

"Defected?"

Nobunaga displayed a suspicious expression.

"How did that happen?"

"Details of the circumstances are still unclear... Furthermore, the source of the 'Yamato's' propulsion has been destroyed. If this happens then even if the 'Yamato' is completed, it can only move for one or two more days."

"Really."

Nobunaga restored his smiling face.

"Those bastards have come to a do-or-die situation. Right, instruct all of the Oda's suigun to withdraw to the open sea."

"W-What are you saying!"

The one who cried out was Kuki Yoshitaka.

"You want us to escape!"

"Correct, escape. I can't let the important Oda suigun be swept away. Having Sue's ships engage the 'Yamato' is good enough."

"You have really decided to..."

Ranmaru by his side voiced out.

"Do you want to employ the 'kanju' and 'manju'?

"Yes. Allow me to destroy, everything."

The eyes of the Demon King filled with fighting spirit. Grasping the two jewels one in each hand, Nobunaga's eyes blazed hellishly.

"...that leaves you, Kagetora."

Muttering, Nobunaga smiled.

"Come now, how are you going to handle me? I'm eagerly looking forward to it, Uesugi."

***

Right now Takaya was onboard the ship.
After dropping off the passengers that they had saved using the Atake ships at a nearby harbor, Takaya had left Ujiyasu's back and assumed command of the ships. The Atake ships had once again set out, Takaya and the others, together with Murakami Takeyoshi's suigun, sailed to the island's channel to have a meeting.

"Terumoto-kou!"

Takeyoshi faced Takaya, who was standing on the deck, and called out in this way. Chiaki pouted in surprise.

"Huh? How come Kagetora is Terumoto?"

"Shh. When I contacted Takeyoshi just now I administered an allusion on him. To let him believe Saburou-dono to be Terumoto, whenever he sees him..."

"Geez, it's not like a chicken was just born."

Chiaki glared at Kotarou.

"Do as you wish but don't call him Saburou-dono anymore. That brat is Kagetora, Kagetora!"

"Shh. Quiet down."

Takeyoshi's Atake ship approached. The flag of the Murakami suigun swung about strongly in the wind. In the sea breeze, Takaya nodded at him, unperturbed.

"It must've been difficult for you. Sure enough you're as deserving a man as I'd hoped."

"I definitely won't let Ekei manipulate the Mouri! Henceforth please allow unworthy Takeyoshi to be Terumoto's right-hand man!"

He was resolute and firm but on the other hand he was an extremely simple-minded man. Easily manipulated. Takaya nodded, and shifted his gaze towards the West.

"Divide your troops here into two squadrons. Send the first division to the waters of Kurahashijima, let the second division advance to the waters of Suo-Oshima. Seal off the sea coasts of Aki. Get all of Oda's suigun out of Itsukushima and sink every single one of them. Don't let them head out to the open sea."

"Seal off the sea coasts of Aki?"

Takeyoshi displayed a puzzled expression.

"Why would we want to do that?"

"Don't ask why. Anyway, the Oda will try to escape from Itsukushima. Don't let any one soldier escape unpunished."

"Understood!"

Takeyoshi immediately faced his ships to convey orders, then the Murakami suigun turned around proceeding in a single file, and hastily sailed towards the West.

"Blockading the offing... What are you planning to do? Kagetora."

"The gohou douji I sent to Haruie has reported back."

Takaya was emotionless.

"The 'manju' and 'kanju' have been taken by the Oda."

"What!"

Chiaki confounded, shouted out.

"Didn't they rob it back? Unexpectedly the Oda have..."

"Seems like Matsuyama Satsuki was used by the Oda. Nobunaga was probably afraid that he couldn't use his own army's warships, thus decided to destroy the Mouri's fleet with the 'kanju' and 'manju'. In order for his own army of ships to not be affected by the 'kanju' and 'manju', his fleet would probably seek refuge in the outer seas."

"Will he use the 'kanju' and 'manju'? That Nobunaga...!"

"The power of that pair of jewels has never been measured. They act according to the owner's will, the extent of their ability is also unknown. It's possible that it may lead to some huge tragedy of the seas. If it was the Amako using it the situation won't be as bad, but with Nobunaga, it'll be too dangerous."

The problem did not end there. Being able to freely control the tides, meant being able to control the seas. The ability to dominate entire oceans.
Takaya widened his eyes sharply.

"If he has that wish, he would even have the power to control the waters of the entire world. That Nobunaga won't just do nothing."

Furthermore, Nobunaga had now acquired Narita Yuzuru. It was simply like holding the switch to launch a nuclear bomb in his hands.

"A person like Nobunaga will never do anything decent...!"

"They said they wanted to destroy the 'manju' and 'kanju'."

Takaya said firmly.

"It seems that Tomo-hime - 'Youkihi' knows a way. They have headed to Misen. I'll leave that to Haruie, we will sail for Kure."

"Kure? To the 'Yamato'?

"Before the 'Yamato' reaches harbor, we have to exorcise all the souls that are concentrated in that area. Even though the power source has been destroyed, the 'Yamato' itself still has some remaining fuel, the ship can still move."

"How long can it run for?"

"I don't know. Maybe just a few hours, or perhaps a few days. Within this stretch of time, if the funagata is regenerated the 'Yamato' will be able to function again. Compared with the 'Yamato', the situation in Kure is more dangerous. I let 'Ken En' calm those spirits, but their numbers are too great, they are fast about to rebel. We can't let this disturbance continue to expand. Apparently there was no danger leaving this to 'Ken En'. We can only send them to the other world by exorcism."

"The numbers are too large? Then can it be done?"

"Kekkai Choubuku. Once this is carried out they can no longer make use of them. After the exorcism, I may not be able to proceed. When that time comes, Chiaki."

Takaya faced Chiaki.

"You will be responsible for commanding the Uesugi."

"Kagetora."

"Sink the 'Yamato'. Without its armor, we should be able to oppose it on an equal level. After that is done, head to Itsukushima. Retrieve Yuzuru from Nobunaga's hands. Then evict them from Itsukushima."

"..."

Chiaki had a solemn expression.

"I understand."

At this moment, Takaya was suddenly alarmed, he looked towards a distant location.

"What's the matter?"

He looked like he had seized a wave of thought.

"Aida-...san...?"

That was the wave of thought of Aida Kengo. The warship eyewitness who was lured to death by his uncle at Hiroshima. Takaya inclined his ears to listen to his wave of thought.

(Kure... The Yamato... has reached...)

What!

An image was conveyed. It was Kure. Many docks could be seen. Displayed were what seemed to be gray self-defense forces, a large specter ship floated. The phantom ship released crimson rays of light like the blaze of the Sun...

It's the 'Yamato'.

There was no mistaking it. That was the creation of the Mouri, the 'Yamato'.

Too fast.

The 'Yamato's' movement was faster than anticipated. The earliest it could have reached the harbor was on the 27th. From Takaya's calculations, even if military operations had been pushed to an earlier date, it should only make port the day after tomorrow. Motoharu, in order to ensure complete safety of their plans, had apparently made battle plans earlier than expected.

Many souls fluttered about the port. Then the spirits of the naval soldiers that assembled on the base were liberated from the ground. As if they were attracted by the 'Yamato' their bodies flew in. Like several thousand fireflies. One by one the spiritual bodies covered the external body of the ship, transforming into the color of heated copper, becoming a coriaceous armor.

Let us set out as well, Kengo.

Making a sound, Kengo's uncle flew in. Aida hesitated. His thoughts were transmitted to Takaya's mind. But Aida could no longer resist the 'Yamato' that was releasing an intense force that attracted the souls.

(After this I beg you...)

Aida entreated Takaya.

(Please be sure to... send us to the Pure Land of the West...)

He seemed to be whisked away. The field of vision closed in on the body of the 'Yamato'. The image was polluted with a glowing, steel coloration.
Then it disappeared.

Takaya quietly gazed in the direction of Kure.

"Saburou-dono."

"It's too late. The 'Yamato' has already entered Kure. We won't make it in time."

They had been outdone by one step. Takaya mumbled, displaying a slightly pained expression.

"What now? Kagetora."

"Following this circumstance, when we get there, the armor would've been almost complete. We'll see what Motoharu does. They should have gotten word of the defeat of Noshima. Will he fight, or wait for the funagata to be regenerated and delay the battle?"

Takaya thought for a moment.
Then he made up his mind.

"Head to Itsukushima."

Chiaki and Kotarou showed surprised looks.

"Itsukushima... Do you want to attack Oda's base of operations?"

"The fighting will come. We've to get the residents on the coastal areas and the people in the boats to a safe refuge. I don't want any innocents sacrificed. 'Yamato's speed is fast, we need to make haste."

Takaya said without any emotion.

"Motoharu will come."

The wave crests of the maidenly Seto Nakai surged upwards.
The Atake ship that carried Takaya and the others, the ship's bow sailed towards the West.
Blowing across the sea was an extremely cold wind.

***

On the streets of Kure, there was a huge uproar among the people. Seeing the great battleship appear in port, the public was confounded in panic, even though the police and even the self defense units had been dispatched to the ruckus as a result, everyone could only watch with open eyes, unable to act.

On the other hand, a war council was underway on the bridge of the 'Yamato', with the chief vassals assembled there.

"We should stop to attack Itsukushima. My Lord."

Proposing this move was Kuchiba.

"We should now temporarily withdraw our troops to the camp, wait for the funagata to be restored. After the preparations have been safely completed then only should we once again launch into an all decisive battle. Furthermore we still have many soldiers left on land. It really isn't the best plan to go to battle in this condition. Temporarily cease the 'Yamato's' military operations. To minimize the risks."

"No, we should immediately execute this do-or-die operation!"

Captain Kodama said in a tough manner.

"As long as we have the 'Yamato' as well as its Tsukumogami warships, we can launch an attack on Itsukushima. The sooner we fight the sooner we can come to a conclusion. If we delay around here, we will be pursued by the second division of Kuki's suigun from Osaka Bay. To wait until that time comes when the 'Yamato' cannot move at all would be far too late. We should conquer Itsukushima as soon as possible. As long as we overcome Itsukushima, its spiritual might will become part of our strength. If we use that military base for the regeneration of 'Yamato's' funagata, we will have an abundance of time. We could also regroup sufficiently such that we'd have the military capability to resist Kuki. My Lord!"

"..."

Motoharu silently listened to the retainers' discussion.
At this point, the Mouri still did not know that Nobunaga had acquired both the 'manju' and 'kanju'. They believed the 'manju' was still in Taisho cave.
Not long after, word of this incident reached Motoharu's ears.

"What! The 'manju' has been robbed by Tomo-hime!"

Receiving his subordinate's communication by radio, the retainers grew unsettled.

"Then Tomo-hime's direction... Mmm, really. Right, immediately chase them down. Immediately."

Motoharu gave orders like this, then switched off his radio.

"My Lord...!"

"Tomo and the Uesugi have united and robbed the 'manju'."

"The Uesugi!"

"Correct. The Uesugi. Seems like the 'kanju' is still in the hands of the Amako. I've dispatched a spy to Itsukushima, but still have not received any word of the situation surrounding the robbery..."

"I heard that the Amako have joined forces with the Oda."

"Mmm.."

Motoharu grasped his chin with his hand.

"Perhaps the 'kanju' has already fallen into the Oda's hands."

"Tomo-hime... the Shinjo court lady, what are her intentions for snatching the 'manju'!"

"She just doesn't want the 'manju' and 'kanju' to become weapons of war."

Motoharu said decisively.

"As long as the 'manju' is in Tomo's hands, there shouldn't be any problem. It's a pity that we lost it, but she will not use it to make war on us. Anyway, she won't be hostile to us. I trust Tomo. She's a lady of the Mouri, she won't be manipulated by the Uesugi. The problem lies with the 'kanju'. But as long as they don't have the 'manju', the 'kanju' won't be able to unleash any of its powers."

Then Motoharu lifted his head.

"How much longer before the armor is complete?"

"My Lord! It will soon be completed. We can put out to sea in about 30 minutes."

"Good! After 30 minutes we can sail for Itsukushima."

"My Lord!"

"The battle will continue. Schedule as accordingly to attack Itsukushima. Kodama, determine how much longer we can last on the fuel. Relay orders to the various ships. All hands to position!"

"Understood!"

The uncertainty in Motoharu's eyes was gone. Only the appearance of a military general. Motoharu again resumed that former countenance whenever he was on a battlefield, the austere 'Demonic Kikkawa'. Kuchiba could not help but straighten his back. The news of his younger brother's death, it was a saddening matter for Motoharu who largely cherished his family, Kuchiba was very clear about this.
Motoharu's manner of placing himself on the battlefield was a way of restraining himself. He did not want to indulge in lamentation and let his sorrow overwhelm him. Motoharu was a mature lord. He clearly knew that right now, the person who had to stay composed was himself. If not, the Mouri would fall apart.

Clenching his teeth in grief, Motoharu smothered the wails and anger in his heart that bothered him and stared ahead.

"This is Takakage's consolatory war."

Motoharu uttered to Kuchiba in a low voice as he gazed ahead.

"If we are triumphant in this battle, we can raise the morale of the Mouri army after having lost Takakage and Terumoto. As long as I am still here to this day, the Mouri definitely will not be extinct."

"My Lord..."

Kuchiba did not oppose again. If Motoharu had chosen this course of action, he decided not to talk too much.

"Kuchiba understands, and will always accompany My Lord by his side."

The strongest Tsukumogami in history, the 'Yamato', in order to campaign against the Oda, Sue and the Amako, would proceed to Itsukushima to an important battle.

***

At this moment, a man appeared at Miyajimaguchi ferry station.
A bandage was wrapped around his head, on top of that was a hat that concealed half his face. That was a man well-built in physical stature, wearing a black coat.

The single man came to this place. Without bringing any accomplices. In his opinion, accomplices were not necessary.

"Damn that Uesugi Kagetora..."

The voice of the low muttering, belonged to Shimozura Rairyu.

"Hurry and get yourself over here. I know you're still alive. This time I want to take your life...!"

He did not die at Hagi city. Rairyu had even endured the explosion of Takaya's 'power', even though his body was burdened with injury he had managed to escape.

The pocket of the coat that hung down heavily was filled with stone idols. Rairyu's loathing for Kagetora only grew more and more intense. This time he came clinging onto a need to kill Kagetora.

It was in this moment. A black wagon arrived at the parking place in front of the port, numerous men attired in priestly garb got out of the car, one of them was the form of Shichiri Yorichika, who had been with Rairyu at Hagi city.

"Rairyu-dono!"

With just one glimpse of him Shichiri recognized Rairyu. He called out Rairyu's name, and impulsively ran to his side. Rairyu only turned a little to glance at him, without much interest.

"Shichiri? You're still alive?"

"Rairyu-dono, you are alright! That's great! I thought I would never see Rairyu-dono again!"

"What the heck are you doing here?"

"Hagi city is ruined. We received Kennyo-sama's orders to come around and support the Mouri. Support the 'Yamato' to destroy Nobunaga!"

"What? Is Nobunaga at Miya-jima?"

"This comes from reliable agents under our leadership that infiltrated Itsukushima. Subsidiary troops from Osaka will be arriving shortly. Rairyu-dono, let us march together against that detestable Nobunaga!"

"Hmm. I see."

The bandaged Rairyu hummed without much interest.

"Alright, I'll leave it to you people to behead Nobunaga."

"What are you saying, Rairyu-dono!"

"I'm only interested in Kagetora. I have come to kill that brat. I don't care what happens to anyone else. Whether they're the Mouri or the Oda. I definitely want to beat Kagetora, kill him with my own hands!"

"R-Rairyu-dono..."

Shichiri was mute for a while, and sadly hung his head. He unhappily pursed his lips together, then decisively opened his mouth.

"Rairyu-dono. Rairen-dono has been killed by the Uesugi."

"What!"

For the first time, Rairyu actually turned to face Shichiri.

"What did you just say! Brother, he...! Isn't Brother at the Taisho cave! Are you saying Brother is dead! How!"

"The Uesugi... the one by the name of Kakizaki made a surprise attack on Taisho cave, defeated Rairen-dono and snatched the 'manju'. Rairen-dono's throat was broken by the Uesugi's reijuu..."

"Damn... it...! Uesugi!"

Rairyu clenched his fists in wrath, his fingernails nearly punctured his flesh.

"Not only me but all of a sudden Brother also...! Unforgivable! I absolutely will not forgive you people, Uesugi!"

His eyes seethed with fires of hatred.

"You are the Buddha's enemy, true devils! Kagetora! Get here quickly. I definitely want to use both these hands! Use both these hands to kill you...!"

Rairyu stared at Itsukushima on the opposite side of the waters.
The torii of Itsukushima shrine embraced Nobunaga's large spiritual force, glinting with a gold radiance.

"What! Hagi city is lost!"

Kikkawa Motoharu's younger brother, Kobayakawa Takakage, bellowed loudly upon hearing of this news.

"Then is Brother alright! What about Terumoto!"

"Motoharu-kou escaped on the 'Yamato'. Terumoto-kou died in battle in the city!"

"Terumoto... is dead..."

Takakage wore a benumbed expression.

"No, even if the physical body is dead his soul should still be present. Haven't you located his whereabouts yet...!"

"Takakage-sama."

Takakage's aide Ankokuji Ekei called out. This man was formerly an arbitrator of the Mouri and was an enterprising monk. Ekei, endowed with the gift of eloquence in speech, had effectively associated with Hideyoshi. He had bustled about all over the place for the Mouri clan after losing Motoharu's sovereign during the peace under the Hideyoshi regime, so much that he was the strange monk who was given a fiefdom of 60,000 koku in the Iyo province. After Hideyoshi passed away, Ankokuji Ekei, in order to resist Ieyasu, conspired with Ishida Mitsunari, and at the Battle of Sekigahara was elected by Mouri Terumoto as chief general of the Western forces. After the Battle of Sekigahara, he was beheaded at Rokujou Gawara in Kyoto.

With the insurgence of 'Yami Sengoku' Ankokuji has since been resurrected, holding a governmental post and duty as Takakage's advisor all this while. This man was in fact the one who had proposed the 'Yamato' project.

"Perhaps Terumoto-sama is no longer in this world."

"What are you saying?"

"He has reached his limit. As you have observed, Terumoto-sama's spirit is extremely weak. Maybe he no longer has the strength to linger in this world."

Ekei wore a white Western-styled suit, his slender and ice-like eyes squinted as he spoke.

"Abandon your concern with Terumoto-sama. Even if Terumoto-sama is no more, the Mouri can still continue to exist."

"Even so..."

"This matter of preserving Mouri's ensign was not necessary from the beginning. Motoharu-sama is clinging onto Mouri's lineage too much. Both Motoharu-sama or Takakage-sama also have the right to claim yourselves as sons of the Mouri. The 'two rivers' have returned, as long as you still uphold your identity as a Mouri that is good enough."

"To Brother, it is essential to be principled in one's obligations, duty and respect. He is this sort of person."

Takakage sighed heavily, and leaned back against the sofa.

"Anyway, it's fine as long as Brother is safe."

"Looks like the 'Yamato' proved to be more successful than anticipated."

Ekei smiled with satisfaction.

"Kure has nearly 10,000 dead souls, impatiently awaiting the arrival of the 'Yamato'. Of course, among them are also souls who wish to seize the 'Yamato' for themselves. Still. Perhaps it is more reassuring that they have this sort of urge."

"Can we attack Itsukushima?"

"Of course."

Ekei smiled with brimming confidence.

"So long as we have the 'Yamato', there is nothing that is capable of intimidating us."

"... As you say."

At this moment there was a knock on the door, Murakami Takeyoshi entered.

"Takeyoshi-dono."

"Have you still not convened a war council to discuss about the naval assault on Itsukushima? Takakage-dono."

"War council? Oh I see, the war council."

Ekei answered.

"Headed by the 'Yamato', and with the Tsukumogami ship in our hands. Takeyoshi-dono, this time the Murakami suigun are simply serving as our adjunct. Our battleships only need to open fire and we can win without a fight, before your small military vessels can even prepare to attack."

Takeyoshi retorted angrily.

"You don't want us to fight, is that it? Don't tell me you only decided to exploit us in the invasion of those ships just to kidnap those people who are to become fuel for the 'Yamato'!"

"Exploit you all? I wouldn't dare. Just using the materials I've considered."

Ekei said with an air of arrogance.

"I'm just letting true pirates carry out what pirates usually do."

"What did you say!"

"Be quiet both of you!"

Takakage interjected.

"There's no need to argue amongst ourselves. Takeyoshi, do assist us with some of your forces. We Mouri need the strength of the Murakami suigun."

"..."

Takakage's words allowed Takeyoshi to finally suppress his fury, but he was still not fully convinced.
He and Ekei's temperament were not in line with each other. Ekei was obviously just a monk, yet in all respects he directed the experts in naval warfare, such as himself (Takeyoshi), behind the scenes. In particular, the way Ekei ingratiated himself with Takakage was similar to how he had flattered Hideyoshi previously, it appeared as though he would eventually be able to seize command over the Mouri, which caused greater frustration to Takeyoshi. Ekei could also be resourceful and scheming, leaving Takeyoshi even more disgruntled. Takeyoshi's first impression of them was not a favorable one, now that matters had reached this stage, his strong dislike for Ekei had only grown more intense.

This sort of person, he would even flatter Nobunaga if he served under him.

Takeyoshi displayed his displeasure.

"We are not Mouri's retainers. We are only lending our strength to help one another because we are all subjects of Motonari-kou. Ekei, do not be mistaken. If you dare ridicule us Murakami suigun again, we will immediately sever all ties with the Mouri. Remember that well."

Takeyoshi left the room after he finished speaking. Ekei looked as if nothing had happened. Takakage frowned although he remained silent.

***

The narrow prison was located in the lowest level of the underground Suigun Castle. Yasuda Nagahide, namely Chiaki Shuuhei, was held captive here.
Chiaki's palms were pierced by a large nail, hanging down from the wall were chains that were secured to the end of the nail. The front of his chest was widely exposed, with a few visible slash wounds.

"What do you think about Murakami's employment of torture methods in their questioning sessions? Yasuda Nagahide."

Kousaka Danjou asked. Chiaki lifted his head. Even though his face was languished, there was still strength to spare for a smile.

"Hey, too bad I never had any interest in sadomasochistic methods, unlike some people."

"It appears that the Mouri have decided to make you their hostage. How do you feel about that?"

"Hmph. Do you believe that brat won't act now that I've been taken hostage? He's not the type to save someone who's in trouble, idiot. Come back again when you've thought over who your opponent is."

Kousaka laughed, but his expression suddenly became serious, he grew silent.

"?"

Chiaki noticed Kousaka's unusual change in expression as well. Kousaka uttered.

"... Naoe is dead. Yasuda."

Chiaki's expression changed.

"What did you say?"

"..."

"What did you... just say?"

"I said Naoe Nobutsuna is dead. He died at Hagi. He is no longer in this world."

"..."

The color of Chiaki's face changed suddenly. He managed with difficulty to move his stiff lips, and coarsely shouted uncontrollably.

"How can that be! Be a bit more specific! You said Naoe is dead? How can that be!"

"Even if you wanted me to go into details, I did not see it with my own eyes. Didn't you hear Kagetora's voice?"

"Kagetora's... voice?"

"Hmph. I guess a slow-witted person such as yourself probably wouldn't be able to hear it. Kagetora went mad because Naoe was killed. That brat was also responsible for causing Hagi city to fall into ruin. As a result of his madness, his powers probably went out of control. You could even hear the sound of his lament over here. It was truly monstrous."

"Kagetora... how is he? Is he still alive?"

"Hmph. Who knows. If he followed Naoe in suicide then wouldn't this affair become really meaningful. So, want me to convey your grief for you?"

Kousaka was silent for a moment, he looked down slightly, then smiled again.

"He alone suffered a premature death. What a foolish thing. And here I was wanting to exploit him a little more for the Takeda... When all is said and done, he's just rubbish. Really an idiot. An ignorant man."

"..."

"If you want to express your condolences, wait until you've restructured the ending then we'll talk again. Yasuda."

Kousaka faced Chiaki who was staring at him in hatred, yet he still spoke with a high-handed attitude.

"If Kagetora is dead, you will be the succeeding general of the Uesugi, Yasuda. I will brainwash you and make you one of Takeda's servants. Thereafter, your exorcism powers will be unleashed in the name of the Takeda. Including Kagetora's and Naoe's divisions. I will look forward to it."

Kousaka turned and left, leaving the prison.
Chiaki still stared ahead of him.

Naoe...

Chiaki groaned, enduring his pain by clenching his teeth. At that time Naoe could no longer employ his 'strength'. Consequently, he would not be able to possess another body.
Even if that was not the case, his spiritual lifespan had already reached its maximum limit. If his physical body was lost, his soul would have no way of staying in this world. It did not have that sort of strength.

Is he really dead?

Chiaki closed his eyes, and clenched his teeth forcefully.

Are you really dead? Naoe!

(Chiaki...!)

Chiaki was stunned by the sudden transmission of that voice, he lifted his head. That was a certain person's wave of thought.

(Chiaki.)

The second time he was called, Chiaki immediately knew who it was.

Is that you, Kagetora...!

Startled, he wanted to search out that wave of thought to reply when the air before him suddenly dazzled like the blaze of a Sun, materializing into a human form that appeared.

"You...!"

It was Takaya.
Takaya looked like he had leaped to this location by simply transcending through space, emerging before Chiaki from out of nowhere. Takaya was partly kneeling, purposefully.

"Kagetora...! You're still alive!"

"You seem alright."

After speaking Takaya skilfully stood up, with a reckless energy he pulled out the large nail that pierced through both of Chiaki's hands.

"Hn...!"

Takaya removed the nail from Chiaki's palms with hardly any consideration, blood spurted out. Due to the sharp pain, Chiaki scrunched up his face, enduring the ache that rushed to the top of his head, and clenched his jaw so as to not make any sound. Takaya pressed his hands against Chiaki's palms, his mouth chanted an incantation to stop the bleeding, then he tore off the hem of his shirt to use as a bandage and wrapped his hands.

"How did you do that just now? Where did you learn that sort of technique?"

"The Dragon of Hakone lent me his strength. It isn't my own."

Takaya said as he hastily used his powers to free Chiaki of the chains that locked his feet to the ground.

"Chiaki, do you know the way around this Suigun Castle? We first need to save the passengers who have been taken captive. Kobayakawa Takakage should be here. We must remove him."

"Kagetora. The news of Naoe's death, is that true?"

"We should demolish and bury this Suigun Castle. Before that the passengers need a refuge. How much of the Yamato's equipment is stored here?"

"Is Naoe really dead! Kagetora!"

Chiaki grabbed Takaya's shoulders, forcing him to face himself. Takaya answered Chiaki straightforwardly.

"...It is true."

"Kagetora."

"Naoe died at Hagi city. He's no longer in this world. But we have to finish our battle. We have to leave immediately."

"Don't you feel anything?"

Seeing Takaya's emotionless face, Chiaki could not help but question him.

"How can you be so calm? Didn't Naoe die? It's Naoe who has died!"

"I don't have time to argue with you. Head outside."

"What do you mean by argue! You brat!"

Chiaki snarled, grabbing Takaya's collar.

"What happened at Hagi, Kagetora! Didn't you go mad! Why did he die? You didn't kill him did you, Kagetora!"

"Let go of me, Chiaki."

"Did you kill him, Kagetora!"

Takaya turned away, his face still emotionless, tearing away Chiaki's hands.

"Lead the way. There's no time to waste. Let's go."

Saying this, Takaya burned the iron locks of the door with his powers, and went out.

***

"What? Takakage-dono summoned for me?"

Called by his subordinate, Murakami Takeyoshi displayed a surprised expression and turned his head.

"Apparently there is some confidential matter he wishes to consult with you. He mentioned that he will wait for you at West Cape."

"Confidential matter..."

Takeyoshi pondered for a while.

"Hmph, in any case it must be that Ekei isn't done with his verbosity. That Takakage-dono, I never expected that he would pay attention to Ekei's sort of slanderous talk. You tell him, it's useless if he wants to ask for my favor. What I said before are my real intentions. If Ekei were to do anything to indicate his contempt for the Murakami suigun again, I will really completely sever all ties with the Mouri."

"It's not like that, Takeyoshi-sama."

The man muttered in a low voice.

"Takakage-sama wants to consult with you about an important matter that can't be let known to Ekei-sama. He instructed me to only inform Takeyoshi-sama."

"What?"

Takeyoshi thought over it until he got a migraine. Since this was an issue that could only be discussed with him, then it must be a very important matter.

Perhaps Takakage-sama is finally clear-headed?

"Understood. I'll go immediately."

After Takeyoshi left, a small white dragon crawled out of the man's mouth. The man suddenly recovered himself, he turned his head.

"What did I just..."

***

Takeyoshi arrived at the appointed place. This was the Western cape of the Suigun Castle. But there was no sign of Takakage.

He isn't here yet?

Hearing someone call 'Takeyoshi', he turned around to look.

You are...!

Takeyoshi was no doubt startled. Emerging before him was not Takakage but a spiritual body. It was the spiritual body of an extremely familiar person.

"Terumoto-sama!"

Takeyoshi could not help but exclaim.

"Are you alright! Everyone was worried that you had perished at Hagi!"

[I have come to convey Motonari-kou's words.]

The spiritual body of Mouri Terumoto uttered.

"Words? Motonari-kou's! Has Motonari-kou been resurrected! I've always thought that Motonari-sama can never be resurrected again!"

[Do not fall into Ekei's trap.]

Terumoto said solemnly.

[That person is attempting to make use of the 'Yamato' to suppress the entire country. He has decided to usurp the Mouri, and set himself as the master of the Mouri. That is the true motive of that man.]

"What!"

The color of Takeyoshi's face changed greatly, he came forward.

"Is this true! From the start, Ekei has been planning to take over the Mouri...!"

[Heed my words. Takeyoshi.]

Terumoto said this in a dignified manner.

[I am the master of the Mouri clan, fulfilling Motonari-kou's dying wish. Other than I Terumoto, there is no second person. Ekei is only using the Murakami suigun as a means of support. Uncle Takakage is just a puppet designated by Ekei to manipulate. Just like how he controlled me when I was alive, now he wants to control Uncle and the rest. Do not assist the 'Yamato'. Takeyoshi. Become my comrade. I can only rely on you!]

"Teru... Terumoto-kou..."

Takeyoshi knelt on the rock.

"Understood! Terumoto-kou! Henceforth the Murakami suigun shall always follow Terumoto-kou... No, Motonari-kou's dying wish! Would Terumoto-kou dictate orders!"

Terumoto voiced 'Good', nodding his head with satisfaction.

[Leave Suigun Castle.]

"Ah...?"

[Command the entire Murakami army to head out for the open sea.]

"Are you ordering us to abandon Suigun Castle!"

[This castle has already had a hand in Ekei's conspiracy. Right from the very beginning, the honorable and proud Murakami suigun has disapproved of this 'Yamato' project didn't they? You were all very unwilling to be exploited for the sake of that huge battleship as well, isn't that correct?]

Takeyoshi listened bluntly to Terumoto, who seemed to completely understand his own (Takeyoshi) intentions.

[You should protect Murakami's honor, Takeyoshi.]

"Thank you! Terumoto-sama!"

Takeyoshi nodded with a beaming look in his eyes.

"Takeyoshi will obey your commands!"

Then Takeyoshi, like a fish to water, hurried into the castle. A man appeared from behind the rock, and gazed at the form of his back leaving.
He was Fuuma Kotarou.
The spiritual body of Terumoto gradually shrank, contorted and was whisked away. Kotarou took out a small golden pot, he easily replaced the lid after Terumoto's spiritual body was sucked into the pot. This was a 'soul caging pot' that could seal up spiritual bodies. Kotarou had caught Terumoto's soul while it roamed Hagi city after his death, additionally he now manipulated it. All of Terumoto's words were Kotarou's.
Kotarou laughed softly and left the rocks.

***

"What is the meaning of this! What are you trying to do, Takeyoshi!"

Takakage, taken by surprise, shouted out in the harbor where the ships were concealed inside the Castle. It was not surprising. All of the soldiers of the Murakami suigun had hastily made preparations to sail out all of a sudden. They were obviously not setting out to capture people. They piled their ships with weapons and materials, planning to leave port.

"Takeyoshi! Where are you going! What are you doing!"

Among the few hundred soldiers bustling about to and fro, Takakage finally found Takeyoshi. Even Ekei was startled, desperately shouting 'Stop', but the men of the Murakami suigun that had rallied together, would not listen to anyone other than Takeyoshi himself. Takeyoshi did not explain anything, he did not pay any attention to the two of them, conducting the preparations to set sail without a moment's delay.

"Takeyoshi!"

Of the ships that were loaded some had already set out to sea. Takakage grabbed Takeyoshi who was about to board his own Atake ship, shouting.

"What are you trying to do! Are you betraying us! Takeyoshi!"

"If you want to kill me then go ahead, Takakage-dono."

Takeyoshi said fearlessly.

"Our decision will not change."

"Decision? Are you betraying us! Do you think we'll just let you go!"

"Even if we are to go to battle with you, we still have to leave. We only obey Motonari-kou's will. It's about time you wake up to reality."

"Motonari...! Are you referring to Father? Father has already been purified, he shouldn't be involved in the wars of 'Yami Sengoku'! What have you all...!"

***

"There's considerable chaos."

Chiaki looked over from behind the rocks, witnessing the situation at the harbor below, he opened his mouth to say.

"Manipulating Terumoto's soul suddenly caused Murakami Takeyoshi to forsake..."

"I expected that as long as Motonari's name is mentioned, Takeyoshi will act. He's quite a heavily principled man. In this way, we have grasped control over Murakami's command. The soldiers of Suigun Castle are now reduced by a third. This is our chance. Let the passengers escape, and destroy the power source of the 'Yamato'."

"What should we do with Takakage? Exorcise him?"

"I don't want the Mouri to know that the Uesugi are responsible for this. Let other people handle him."

"Shikanosuke?"

"Let Ekei live, only deal with Takakage. It's vital to let them believe this to be a conflict between the Mouri and the Amako."

"You..."

Chiaki knitted his brows.

"What are you planning?"

"..."

Takaya did not answer.

"Kotarou should've prepared a ship. Take the passengers there. Let's go."

Takaya said, then ran ahead.

***

Yamanaka Shikanosuke was confined in a different prison.
Seeing the guard suddenly fall to the ground groaning, Shikanosuke was startled. The iron door opened, an unfamiliar man with a long bundle of hair down his back appeared.

"You must be Yamanaka Shikanosuke-dono."

"Who are you?"

"I am Shikanosuke-dono's comrade. I have come to help you."

"What! Are you one of Oda's men!"

"Please hurry."

Fuuma Kotarou rapidly unfastened Shikanosuke's locks when he finished speaking.

"Murakami Takeyoshi has betrayed them. This is a good opportunity. Uesugi's men have gone ahead to destroy the power source of the 'Yamato'. It won't be long before Suigun Castle falls. This..."

Kotarou handed a previously concealed Japanese katana to Shikanosuke.

"Takakage and Ankokuji Ekei are at the dock below."

"What! That bastard Ekei is here too!"

"If Takakage is killed, the Mouri suigun will be finished. Come, dispose of this hateful Mouri at once!"

"Shikanosuke owes you a favor!"

Shikanosuke stood up.

"I will personally settle the Mouri without fail!"

Shikanosuke shouted in this way, and dashed out as though he was flying. Kotarou also ran out as he was to have a meeting with Takaya subsequently.

***

Takaya wielded the katana of Bishamon, continuously driving back the soldiers of the Mouri that fought against him in front. Chiaki, in a similar manner, performed 'Saku Retsu Exorcism' to the solders all around.

"Bai!"

The soldiers continuously disappeared from the surprise attacks. Takaya shouted as he ran on the narrow signal channel.

"Don't let any of them escape unpunished! Chiaki!"

"Next, to the right! The signal channel on your right!"

The two of them rushed towards the large cave where the passengers were held. The skeletal soldiers were beheaded one after another. The pale luminous rays from the katana of Bishamon burned incandescent marks into the rocks.
A dead end lay ahead, previously there was a one-leafed door. A large group of soldiers had barricaded the front!

"Chiaki...!"

"Noumakusamanda Bodanan Baishiramanndaya Sowaka! Namotobatsu Bishamonten!"

He concentrated all his spells in his fist.

"To subjugate the demons! Grant me thy power!"

Takaya commanded the katana of Bishamon. Chiaki released the rays of light concentrated in his hands...!

"Exorcise!"

A white radiance surrounded the soldiers. The road block crumbled. Takaya promptly thrust the katana of Bishamon into the radiance.

"Arghhhhh!!!"

The insertion of the katana of Bishamon elicited a response from the koppa-shin, leading to a huge explosion.
A booming sound, the spiritual door that surrounded the large cave fragmented all over. Takaya and Chiaki, unable to withstand the explosive winds, plunged into the cave.

"This is...!"

Dancing about madly inside the immense cave were the many people that had been captured. There was an intense chaotic beating of a Taiko drum. Different types of steam blew past, if one did not pay attention to it, one's consciousness would be snatched away. No one took notice of Takaya and Chiaki. The Murakami suigun was responsible for watching over this place but they were no longer here.

"That is it, Kagetora!"

"!"

To his right was a white altar made of shirabe. Squarely placed in the center of the altar adorned with pearls strung together and offerings, was what seemed to be the clay funagata of a goshintai. The funagata seemed alive, glimmering with a tangerine radiance.

"That is the heart of the 'Yamato'...!"

The intense spiritual energy that enclosed the funagata was considerably sturdy. Perhaps just incantations alone were not good enough to destroy it.

"Saburou-dono!"

Kotarou shouted in a high voice, rushing in from the destroyed gate.

"Is this the system that extracts vitality?"

"Hmm. This indicates that the Murakami suigun hypnotized them into a dance. If the funagata isn't destroyed, there won't be any other way to stop them."

Takaya thought for a while, then immediately turned towards Chiaki.

"Is there any remaining koppa-shin?"

"There is one left."

Chiaki said, taking out the slender koppa-shin from his waist pocket.

"It's the Raijin. If you want to demolish it in one breath, this is the most effective one."

"Good. Destroy the funagata. Chiaki, form a barrier by the altar with a Goshinha to protect the passengers. Ward off any assault. Leave the rest to me."

"Did you all believe that circumstances would run that smoothly? Uesugi!"

"!"

Hearing a familiar voice, Takaya and the others turned their heads. From the other side of the destroyed gate, the man who appeared was...!

"Kousaka!"

"Looks like you barely managed to linger on with your feeble condition, Kagetora."

A cryptic smile floated on Kousaka Danjou's face as he leered at them. Apparently he had seen through the actions of Takaya and the others.
Many men appeared from the opposite side of the door, and surrounded the cave.

"...!"

They were Takeda's subordinates, holding machine guns in their hands obtained from someplace.

"What do you intend to do, Kousaka!"

"I just can't let you all stop the 'Yamato'."

Kousaka revealed a cold smile.

"Go ahead and try to lay your hands on the funagata. I'll kill everyone here with these machine guns."

"You...!"

"Hmph. You transcended the death of your trusted subordinate to continue fighting? How beautifully touching, Kagetora. Even though the man who constantly followed you for 400 years has died, you still prioritize the completion of this mission? I'm really moved to the point of admiration by your perseverance."

"Is that all you have to say!"

Takaya restrained his indignation and called Chiaki. He coldly gazed at the other.

"Are you going to stand in our way? Takeda."

"Looks like it's time we decided over a victor."

Kousaka smiled, he calmly swelled with power. Chiaki wanted to be his opponent, but Takaya once again stopped him.

"Leave this bastard to me."

"Kagetora...!"

"Prepare the koppa-shin. Hurry!"

"It's useless! Uesugi!"

Kousaka amplified his incantations, and made a surprise attack.

"Stay here in eternal sleep, Kagetora!"

Takaya's eyes twinkled with a sharp radiance. Countless dark-blue arrows shot out from Kousaka's body, aimed at Takaya. Takaya crossed both arms in front of him, blocking the arrows with a Goshinha.

"Haahh...!"

The conjured incantations Takaya centralized in his right hand, transformed into a light spear. He swung in one huge motion, with the strength of his entire body he hurled the light spear at Kousaka.

"Nnnh!"

Kousaka's Goshinha was pierced, causing a strong spray of plasma to spurt out. In this critical moment, Takaya haphazardly fired away his spells like a machine gun. At the same time, the shadow extended from Kousaka's foot, transforming into several dozens of snakes that coiled around Takaya's body.

"Nnnh!"

To the side, Chiaki was directly facing the koppa-shin. Behind him, Kotarou had also moved into action. He took out several protective reijuu crystal spheres from his garment.

"Awaken, reijuu!"

The few crystals released cracked, the endless forms of reijuu that appeared in succession charged towards the retainers of the Takeda. There were cries of pain. In this space of time, Chiaki concentrated his spirit on the koppa-shin and delivered a mantra.

"Naumaku Sanmanda Bodanan Indoraya Sowaka, Naumaku Sanmanda Bodanan Indoraya Sowaka..."

"Hn...nnhh!"

Kousaka's shadow clasped around Takaya's neck with an astonishing strength. If this were to continue, he would not only suffocate but his neck would be crushed...!

"Go to hell! Kagetora!"

"Nnnnh.... Nnnnh!"

Takaya, struggling in pain, concentrated his spell in his hand, the katana of Bishamon that was about to disappear filled with power. Brilliant rays of light began to radiate from the katana of Bishamon.

"Ahhh!"

Takaya shouted, brandishing the blade.

"!"

The shadow was broken. Takaya attacked Kousaka, who was retreating backwards, with all of his strength of his incantation.

"Arghh!"

Although Kousaka enacted a Goshinha, he still could not completely ward off the might of the incantation. His body was blown backwards, crashing into the wall behind before sliding to the ground. Not knowing if his bones had fractured, Kousaka threw up blood, ceasing to move.

"Chiaki!"

"Naumaku Sanmanda Bodanan Indoraya Sowaka!"

Chiaki suddenly widened his eyes, holding onto the koppa-shin that was emitting a blue light, he rapidly tossed it towards the altar...!

"I'll leave the rest to you, Kagetora!"

A character was traced in the air...!

Bai!

With a booming noise, a massive Raijin appeared from the koppa-shin, a large tall body, with huge prominent eyes...!

"On Beishiramandaya Sowaka!"

Takaya chanted, commanding the katana of Bishamon in one breath and pierced it into the center of the Raijin's chest...!

"What!"

The men firing away with the guns, had their necks bitten by the reijuu. Seeing the blood gush out of the men's necks, Kotarou turned his head.

"Saburou-dono!"

"Hargghh!"

The katana of Bishamon pierced through the center of the chest of the Raijin. The body of the Raijin discharged an immense flash, and easily triggered a huge explosion in the very next instant!

"!"

Chiaki and Kotarou used their utmost strength to set up a Goshinha. Pieces of the altar that had been fragmented by the explosion flew past. Takaya took this opportunity to puncture the funagata with the katana of Bishamon!

A heterogeneous energy exceeding all limits poured into the funagata, causing it to expand bit by bit. The radiance flickered like a heartbeat that throbbed at a progressively increasing rate, finally arriving at the summit.
A sound similar to the shattering of glass came from the funagata, as it burst into pieces.

"Nnnh!"

Takaya, unable to withstand the force of the blast, was blown backwards. Chiaki clenched his teeth and held onto him.
The funagata had been completely destroyed.
Together with the rumbling clangor, the pounding of the Taiko drums ended. The passengers fell to the ground in quick succession like broken dolls.

"We did it, Kagetora!"

"Wake all of them up, then take the ship out and leave this island. Kotarou, I presume the ship is well-prepared."

"Yes. It is located at the pier to the south."

"I'll leave the task of guiding the passengers there to you. Once that is done, immediately destroy Suigun Castle. Chiaki, after 20 minutes unseal every single one of the collocated koppa-shin."

"Where are you going, Kagetora!"

"I'm going to verify the fate of Takakage and the others. After all the passengers have boarded, set sail! There's no need to wait for my return!"

After he finished speaking, Takaya simply ran out. Chiaki was left speechless, he turned his head around at the passengers on the ground.

"Hey hey hey, if any of you brats don't want to die, get up this instant! Even if you have to crawl I will definitely get all of you out!"

***

Because Kobayakawa Takakage did not know the reason for Murakami Takeyoshi's betrayal he was lost in a state of confusion when he received word of an enemy invasion.

"What did you say! That won't do...! Don't let them near the funagata! Send all of the men! I'm heading over as well!"

"Takakage-sama!"

"Ekei! Command the slaves of the Keigo community to pursue Takeyoshi! Use whatever means to bring him back!"

Suigun Castle had fallen into a state of massive chaos. Yamanaka Shikanosuke ran down towards the dock.

"Found it...!"

Shikanosuke rushed to the berth where the ships were anchored in the large cave, there he saw Takakage and Ekei.

"Kobayakawa Takakage!"

"!"

Takakage, hearing a sturdy bellow, turned around. Shikanosuke unsheathed his long sword, with an extremely sudden swiftness he rushed towards them, decapitating three soldiers as he cut his way through.

Takakage's aides shielded him.

"Shikanosuke...! How did you get here!"

"The emissary of the moon granted me help, allowing me to escape from prison. In order to kill you!"

Shikanosuke positioned the long sword in front of his eyes. Takakage, perturbed by Shikanosuke compulsion, retreated backwards.

"Be prepared, son of the Mouri. I of the house of Amako, will hereby erase our clan's enmity."

"Amako's enmity? Foolish man, still wishing to reinstate your clan even after its extinction... That is fundamentally impossible to achieve. Where in this world are there still people of Amako in existence? Perhaps you are trying to install some ignorant distant descendant of the Amako as the new master? Or desperately trying to grab an onryou of the Amako bloodline to appoint as the new head? This is reminiscent of all your past defeats!"

"...!"

"You're only indulging in a vain hope. Wrongly believing this vain hope to be your will."

"Shut up!"

"At this point in time, what good would the restoration of your clan bring? Who will be contented by this? You are only fighting for your own self-satisfaction, isn't that right!"

Shikanosuke had no words of refute.
At this moment Takaya came running in. Seeing the mutual confrontation between Shikanosuke and the others, he immediately hid behind a rock and quietly observed the situation.

"Shikanosuke, everything that you have done... all the things you've been doing are a waste. You are only conducting a meaningless war! Isn't that correct? You can stop already. It's time to cease your futile acts. A warrior like you, should unleash your strength for a more beneficial cause!"

"It is not a futile act!"

Shikanosuke bellowed.

"All the things that I've done are not futile acts! Even if they can never be realized they're not fruitless efforts! As long as my conviction exists to this very day, this will never be a futile act!"

Shikanosuke...

Takaya widened his eyes.

"Even if it were futile I will never abandon it! Now my one and only desire is about to be realized. Kobayakawa, I want to kill you with my own hands. Yamanaka Shikanosuke will fight against you in the name of the goryo of the clan! Prepare yourself, Takakage!"

"Ch...!"

"Guardian deity of the Cresent Moon!"

Shikanosuke stiffened his fingers and drew out a half-moon on his forehead.

"Grant me thy power! To preach down on the enemy!"

"!"

Shikanosuke attacked, tossing flares shaped like a half-moon at him. The two aides who shielded Takakage howled, throwing up blood before slumping to the ground. Takakage's entire body erupted with fighting energy.

"Come!"

"Nnnhh... ahhh!"

"This will be your second place of death, Shikanosuke!"

The fierce burst of plasma broke out between them.
Both men released 'Nen Nami' at the same time, clashing directly.

"Nnnhh... ahhh!"

"Takakage-sama!"

At the moment that Ekei wanted to issue incantations, he was attacked by Takaya's spell.

"Ahhh!"

Ekei, who was sent flying from the attack, distracted Takakage's attention for a second.

"Ekei...!"

Shikanosuke grabbed the opportunity offered in that moment. In spite of the fierce plasma before him, he charged towards Takakage, wielding the long sword.

"Harghhhh!!!"

Takakage turned, widening his eyes. His field of vision was dyed red in an instant.
The long sword that came down on his head cut through Takakage's forehead.
Blood sprayed out. Takakage did not make a single sound of agony, and just fell in that way.

"Takakage-sama...!"

The spiritual body of Takakage escaped from his physical torso. It had an indignant face that was distorted; releasing a growl, it transformed into an onryou and charged towards Shikanosuke. Shikanosuke once again drew a half-moon on his forehead, and tossed it with all his concentrated energy.

"Harghh!!"

Pa!

Like the sound of clay being smashed, the incandescent form of the half-moon shot through Takakage's body, breaking it into pieces that scattered all over the place. Takakage, sustaining Shikanosuke's assault, died.

"Damn you, Shikanosuke...!"

An angered Ekei picked up a long sword with the intention to kill, as he chanted incantations. Shikanosuke, whose eye capillaries were dilated from wanting to slaughter Ekei, moved once again...

"This is the end, Shikanosuke!"

Takaya intercepted the half-moon thrown at Ekei by Shikanosuke.

"What...!"

A barrier of a wall materialized before Ekei's eyes, scattering the intense plasma. At the moment when Shikanosuke, startled, turned his head, Takaya delivered an 'External Bind' on him.

"Wha-!"

As a result of the restraint, Shikanosuke's body had no way of moving. At the same time, Ekei was flung backwards by Takaya's spell.

"Wahh!!"

Takaya continued to strike Ekei, who had fallen to the ground. Unable to bear it, Ekei fled.

"Wait, Ekei! Damn... Damn it!"

His feet could not move, as though they were fixed in cement. Shikanosuke, not resigned to his situation, was left speechless again. Moreover Ekei's form had disappeared to the other side of the cave.
The sound of collapsing rocks came from a distant location. Takaya, standing behind the boulder, turned and faced the depths of the cave.

It has started...

It appeared that Chiaki had activated the koppa-shin. Takaya untied Shikanosuke from the 'external bind'.

"W-What was that sound?"

It sounded like the tremors that occurred before a volcanic eruption, shaking the cave. The rocks began to crumble. They had decided to bury Suigun Castle.
Takaya still had another matter to attend to. He had to exorcise the soldiers that had escaped before they were buried by the gravel. If he did not do this, they would become earth-bound spirits.

Takaya once again ran into the depths of the cave that was beginning to collapse. Shikanosuke dashed out towards the sea to escape.

***

"Right! Everyone settle down!"

Chiaki shouted from the deck of the Atake. This was the southern side of the underground wharf. They allowed the rescued passengers to distribute themselves on the Atake ships that Kotarou had seized.

"The cave is collapsing...! It will be dangerous to remain here, set sail Yasuda-dono!"

"Kagetora..."

Takaya was still inside the castle. But they could not wait any longer.

A stubborn person like you definitely won't die right, Kagetora!

"Alright! Set sail!"

The Atake began to move. The ships left the pier, heading out to sea slowly. The cave of the underground pier began to disintegrate. At this crucial moment, the two Atake ships finally departed from Suigun Castle.

After approximately one hour, the Murakami's Suigun Castle had been completely destroyed.
From the sea, Chiaki and Kotarou watched the change in the island's terrain as a result of the demolition.
Concealed by the clouds in the high skies, a large silver dragon regarded the scene.
On the back of the dragon, was the form of Takaya.
Takaya silently looked down at the islands and sea from a bird's eye view, then turned his gaze towards Itsukushima.
